Director of Communications

St. Joseph & St. Mary Parishes are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Director of Communications. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the mission and vision of both parishes. In collaboration with the pastor and staff, the Director will promote the parishes’ ministries, programs, and events to the parish community, diocese, and the broader public through a range of communication channels. The ideal candidate will be mission-focused, possess a strong creative vision for digital design, have expertise in producing engaging media and marketing content, and demonstrate adaptability within the dynamic environment of parish life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following, while not an exhaustive list of duties associated with the position, is intended to familiarize you with the general requirements this role entails.
- Manage parish communications directed towards both the parishioners, visitors, and local entities within our parish boundaries.
- Will further St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s purpose and vision by promoting their ministries, programs and events to the parish, diocese, and greater Corydon and Lanesville community
- Develop and execute a robust digital and print communications strategy to be deployed via the parish website, social media platforms, Flocknote, and other means as necessary.
- Edit and post daily/weekly content as necessary on the parish website, and social media Pages.
- Leverage a demonstrated "creative eye" for design by creating and posting digital content consistent with St. Joseph and St. Mary brand guidelines.
- Design compelling graphics and signage to inform all members of our community about parish events, programs, and liturgical celebrations.
- Engage and manage necessary relationships outside of the St. Joseph and St. Mary community with other churches and civic offices as a representative of St. Joseph and St. Mary.
- Design and manage all parish email marketing campaigns to include the weekly parish email newsletter, bulletin, ministry updates, and other projects as needs arise.
- Discern and delegate certain tasks and responsibilities of the communications plan to competent individuals within a communications team.
- Develop relationships with the different ministries and entities of the parish to communicate the life of the Parish intentionally and effectively to the universal congregation as appropriate.
- Aid to develop communication plans with each ministry to best suit the mission and parameters of ministries.
- Develop along with involved parties, all-inclusive folders/packets outlining and guiding one through the different sacramental processes for those interested in receiving.
- Create a process by which necessary information suitable for parish wide distribution can inflow from parish ministries or parishioners.
- Participate in an annual retreat and other opportunities for spiritual growth.
REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1-2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or social media management.
- Willingness to foster the Church’s mission and actively contribute to its vision.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Familiarity with digital photography and editing for creating visual content.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Independence and professionalism, able to work with minimal direction and exercise sound
- judgment.
- Team-oriented with the ability to navigate competing demands and varying timelines.
- Experience interfacing and supporting multi-level leadership and volunteers in an organization.
- Proficiency in tools such as Flocknote, Google Suite, and Canva.
- Familiarity with parish renewal resources such as Divine Renovation, Forming Intentional Disciples, and Rebuilt.
- Design expertise in creating compelling graphic content and copy.
- Compliance with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
- Completion of Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training.
- Background screening required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1-2+ years of experience managing social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Familiarity with parish renewal resources such as Divine Renovation, Forming Intentional Disciples, and Rebuilt.
